Dilute Test Question....I think I screwed up!
So, I took a UA today. I've been testing myself for the last 3 days, and since my 1st void of the day kept coming up with a ghost hair faint line, I decided I would do a little light dilution (the other tests I took throughout the day came up noticably darker).
I woke up this morning and 4 hrs before the test I took 4 aspirin. Then I drank a 32 oz Gatorade 2 - 3 hrs before the test. 3 hrs before I ate 2 Rolaids. 2 hrs before I ate 3 more. I wasn't taking any creatine the week before, but I had a nice medium rare 12 oz steak Fri night and a huge burger yesterday for lunch. Since I wasn't doing a full blown dilution, I didn't take any B2 vitamins. About 30 - 40 mins before the test I drank half a 20 oz of Mountain Dew and drank about 4 - 6 oz of water.
So, I took the test at 2:00 today and the first thing the lady said when she saw it was, "That looks a little dilute". It definitely wasn't clear, but it wasn't as yellow as my Quick Fix. Yes, my dumbass had some QF, but since I was testing negative at home without diluting, I figured, why risk it. To be honest, it pretty much looked like my normal urine throughout the day.
I played dumb and asked what "dilute" meant, and she said I may have to come back and do another test, but that she would send it off to the lab to see. Am I screwed??? Since I followed the other dilution guidelines with actually less fluid than called for, is there a chance my sample comes up negative dilute?
Also, I heard that if they send it to the lab, they test for a cutoff waaaaaay below the 50 ng/mL that my home tests are....something like 15 ng/mL if I remember correctly.
Here's the best part. Not only did she not make me even empty my pockets, but this lady actually checked the "Yes" box on the temperature BEFORE I even took the test. Unbelievable and I'm kicking myself.
Anyone else have a similar experience that can make me feel a little better????

looking and being are two different things. The red meat helped I'm sure for creatinine and the gatorade for specific gravity as well as rolaids. The B2 would have just prevented the lady from saying it looks off.
You'll know pretty well this week if you have to retest. From everything you said it sounds like you followed most of the instructions pretty closely, so I would say your in better shape than not.
I wouldn't sweat *too* much, as I just finished doing the same thing, wondering if I did something wrong etc. To give you a little assurance, I just got a phone call from my new employer saying everything is good to go. ;)
If you don't have a call from the MRO in the next few days, (from what I understand they are pretty fast about getting those results) then probably sitting good. I had to wait nearly 6 days to get my absolute results. I can't wait to spark this one...
but don't you... give it the time.

Yeah, that's kind of what I though about it. I know there's no way to tell if it's dilute just by looking because I'm sure other people's urine doesn't always come out nice and yellow. I think she was just trying to scare me to see if I would give anything away.
Question though. When you took yours what was the color. Was it vitamin yellow?
Congrats on your pass, BTW.

My urine is always real pale.I've never had a problem.

I've explained this whole 50 ng/ml cutoff on immunoassay with 31 metabolites and THC-COOH at 15 ng/ml on GC/MS confirmation before. Do an advanced search for posts by me. Sorry I don't know what terms will help you find some posts but try immunoassay or THC-COOH. I explain it like every 10 days so it should be easy to find.

Got it. So, it looks like the 15 ng/mL test on the GC/MS is pretty much the same as the 50 ng/mL cutoff on the immunoassay. That makes me feel better. It also makes me feel better that I have to FAIL the immunoassay to even get to the GC/MS.
So, FBR, in your very valued opinion, is there still a chance I came up dilute? Since I passed the home tests consistently and took the last negative one 30 mins before my actual test, I'm not as worried about coming up positive as I am coming up dilute. Considering I didn't load up on creatine the days before (except that steak and burger) and didn't take the vitamin at all, what are my chances of the dilute? Just because this chick said it looks dilute, surely they can't just call it dilute for that.
Thank you kind sir in advance for your opinion.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this? I'm freaking out a little bit. With only about 40 ozs of fluid, how can it come up dilute?
Dilute Test Question....I think I screwed up!
I doubt you'll come up with a dillute. The drug tech doesn't decide if its a dillute only the lab can do that. If you only drank 40 ounces of fluids the morning of the test you should be fine.

Appreciate the reassurance. I drank the 40 ozs from 10:30 - 12:30 and tested at 2:00, so I think I'm good. Like you said, lots of people's urine isn't that yellow, so I think the lab tech lady was just being a biatch.
Sorry to be such a little bitch about this. I'm not usually like this, but I guess I'm just one of those people who will never feel relieved until I get the results back or start work.
Plus, my wife is preggers with our first child and I really need this job (like everyone else who has to take a UA), so I'm under a lot of stress. I'm just looking for a few kind words of reassurance so I don't develop an ulcer! Thank you sir.

Steeler......did you hear back? What's the verdict?
