Brown Leaves on my BUD! HELP!!!!
I currently have two plants growing under floro tubes. There's been no drastic change in temperature or anything.
My trichomes are just now beginning to turn cloudy.
As you can see in the pic the leaves around the bud are browning, and on one of the fans (bottom right).
It's not happening on all the buds, just one and beginning on another one.
Watering issue?
Could this be mold?
if it's mold can I still harvest the bud or would smoking it be bad?
Brown Leaves on my BUD! HELP!!!!
That doesn't look like mold to me. Mold generally attack dense colas, not leaves. If the humidity in your room is high enough, it's possible for mold to form on the leaves...but again, not as likely as forming inside the bud itself.
I can't get a very clear picture of the leaves, but it almost looks like they're suffering from a slight nutrient burn. If the spots on the leaves are necrotic, they're not going to heal themselves. But you will still be able to harvest and smoke them with little problems. If the trichomes are starting to turn cloudy, then you'll be ready to harvest soon. If I were you, I'd stop any nutrient feeding you may be using, and start flushing with clean water. This'll help to wash away excess fertilizer out of the soil, and will make your final cured product a smoother smoke. Also, it should help to prevent any more of the leaves from becoming necrotic...if it is indeed a nutrient burn that's ailing them.
Brown Leaves on my BUD! HELP!!!!
I'm probably not going to harvest the whole plant at once, so flushing may be out. I've got big buds at the tops close to the lights but small buds just starting to form trichomes near the bottom.
I'm hoping to clip from the top and let the ones underneath grow...basically keeping that up until I run out of plant, then when I've hit the last buds, flush and harvest the whole enchilada.
I didn't even THINK of nutrient burn!!! I've been using Miracle Grow's "Bigger Bloom's" which has nitrogen in it. could that be the problem? I've heard to avoid nitrogen at all costs during the bud phase.
This will give me a good start in the investigation.

Brown Leaves on my BUD! HELP!!!!
Many bloom fertilizers contain Nitrogen, just in lesser quantities than phosphorus and potash. You don't want higher levels of Nitrogen during flowering, as this would encourage more foliage growth as opposed to flower production. Still though, if it is a nute burn, it could have been caused by elements besides N.
You can still flush your plant, even if you plan on continuing your nutrient regimen. I like to give my plants a good flush at least once a month, regardless of whether they're showing symptoms of toxicity. It's not a bad habit to get into, especially if you regularly fertilize.
And equal shades of You're Welcome, to ya! Good luck with the rest of your grow.
