played oblivion? i need your help...

ok well i just got it... adn i must i'm getting really into the game... i watched someoen played it and never really got intrested, but after actually picking it up, i'm having problems putting it down lol...

anyways.... here's my problem.... i've already done quuuuiiiiite a few quests, so naturally i'm stocked to the gills with items, most of which i have no use for... thinking back to diablo 2 and baldur's gate, i know how to judge price/weight, so i've been juggling for better price-weight ratios... but i've STILL not found a shopkeeper or anything to sell all this crap to... tried looking it up and found nothing solid...

so where are all these bastards at? i'd really like to unload the like 180 pounds of equipment i'm carrying that i have no intention of using... but as i said i've played diablo 2 and baldur's gate.. so there's no way i'm dropping all this shit..

I'm pretty sure there is a shopkeeper/merchant in any major town. Go to the town on the center of you map if you need to. I can't give you specifics at the moment since I'm at work and haven't played my Oblivion in about a year.

another good thing to do or what i do is find a cave like the one next to where u first start the game when u come out of the sewer u go right and u will see the cave go in and clear it out find a create or box/chest and drop all ur shit in there and just keep going back and droping all ur stuff u want to sell into 1 cave or house u buy whatever then u can go back anytime and pick up stuff u want to sell as the shop keepers only have so much money at a time and they are only open in the daytime hours and sometime u will find alot of stuff at 1 time so theres a tip another 1 i did was to build ur skills up real quick is to summon a monster/whatever u have and then say u want to build ur sword skill up u just slash the hell out of them and u can do it over and over same thing with say attack spells like fire ice or whatever

Yeah, shopkeepers in every town. Look for places named things like "the copius coinpurse" (found in the market district of the imperial city). Glad you found some though :) .


So what kind of character do you have going slipknot? Did you know you can make custom classes/character types? I have a custom Wizard class named Gandalf (of course), and an Aes Sedai character named Moraine (from Wheel of Time). I generally avoid the pre-made classes because with custom you can choose all your favorite skills/attributes.

Oh and gathering money can be a real pain in the ass. Personally I find it detracts from the character development, quest-finishing, guild rank rising etc. So if you really don't want to bother, just press the ~ key and type in player.additem 0000000F [add amount of money you want] (that's 7 zero's in the code)


Otherwise here's a few tips:

- When you get to higher levels, enchant the stuff you wear with permanent-effect spells from soul gems. This is really great, you can enchant a few items with "shield" for instance and have something like 60% permanent shielding.

Here's the thing though; Sigil stones are twice as good for enchanting items as any Grand soul gem with a grand soul (grand soul gems give you 10% shield, Sigil stones give you 20%). Wait till you're a higher level (in the 20's) so they give you their maximum effect. Then when you get to the end of a tower in an oblivion gate, you'll see Sigil stone floating above fire and all that jazz. Take it and you destroy the oblivion realm from your gate.

Quicksave right in front of the Sigil stone (F5) and take it. As soon as it says "Sigil stone added" press TAB and check it in your inventory. You'll get one with a randomly assigned effect. Keep loading and checking till you get the one you want, I suggest shield effect (you always get 2 effects, one for wearing items and one for attack items).
Then you just click the stone in your inventory to enchant items; you don't use the enchanting alters.

- Ayleid ruins generally have Varla Stones and Welkeind Stones. Welkeind stones you can click to recharch your magica, Varla Stones will recharge your magical weapons (which cost a LOT of money to recharge). Varla stones are also worth 1000 gold each.

- Take a gander at the "Haggle" option with merchants. The higher your mercantile skill, the higher you can set your buy/sell profit rate. At first try putting it around 50 or so.

- You can grind up your sneak skill by going into a corner where there's people around, but they won't look in that corner and see you. Then just press "Q" to go into autowalk, and walk away for an hour or two. When you come back your sneak skill will be 25 points higher:D (every 25 points you reach a new skill rank, and have to press "OK" to continue rising levels).

- Sneak around and shoot enemies with your arrows for sneak damage.

- Work on your strenght especially so you don't get encumbered by all the stuff you carry.

uhh... a darkelf battle mage i think? i have to admit tho i've been cheating o.0 i figured there's alot more to learn then i had expected.... so i'm just learning everything righ tnow before i go back and redo it..

Has anyone played the expansion shivering isles?? I recently beat it and its amazing=]

You know what ive found works, its a pain in the arse selling things seperately to level up your merc skill, just get into the mages guild past the recommendations and into the arcane university. make a spell of fortify merc 100, cast before talking to shopkeepers and it gives you the ability to invest, which will give you more gold for your items, and also enable you to haggle for better prices which = more shiny = good :)
