How to use an acrylic triple bubbler?

My friend just bought a "matrix triple bubbler", and we cant figure out how to fill it up. I couldn't find a picture of it to show, but i'll describe it the best i can. 36 inches tall, 3 chambers for smoke to go in, and the chambers are ball shaped.

We filled all three chambers up with water, and hit it a couple times, and because of the hoses, it siphoned all the water from the top chamber to the middle chamber, and then from the middle chamber to the bottom, which in turn started spilling out the carb and bowl. How can I fix this, or can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong.

dont breathe into it at all. i have this bong and when you breathe out and then in it does some weird shit to the water. make sure you do not breathe into it and it should be good.:rastasmoke:
