Male hermaphrodites-can it be done?
ive got 2 ales, and im done catching thier pollen for one of the girls.
can i make em hermi and get buds on em? (it works for females...)
either way, ive started to flip the lights from on to off (and vicey-versa) every 3-4 hours and taking small chunks of stem out and bending/snapping small leaves and branches.
my pln is to make thier life a freaking chaos to see if theyll herm.
is it even possible though? it must have been tried before...

I've heard that it can happen...but I've never seen it.

You can force-herm a male just the same way you can a female, but you will never put on bud mass. I've seen it happen in my garden with old males. You just get a few pistils.

coolio! its day two of torture, and over less than 24 hours, the lights must have gone through 5 on/off cycles.
my goal is to see if female parts will grow on, and then try growing it to harvest :p

I have one that turned out that way like stinky said not much bud mass but the smoke is fantastic.

This may be a good thing as afar as getting some smoke out of an otherwise useless effort. But getting back to the original post about collecting pollen, wouldn't a hermied male still have that male (Y?) chromosome in it's genes and therefore be more prone to producing males seeding using that polllen?

my reasoning is this: if a plant's genetics are so weak as to easily allow sex-reversals, I dont want it in my garden ... I try to weed out the weaklings ... in genetics, you need to strive for 'only the strong survive' ... but, thats only my uneducated opinion

This is true Reaper....but despite you saying you are just a pollen thrower you aren't...you are a breeder and so those things are important to you......as well as they should be for a good breeder.
I wouldln't do it for another reason however. I prefer to put my time, energy and $$$ into plants that will give back.....not take up space. I don't consider a few grams a good investment in those three things of mine.
