Greetings all. I'm new to the boards but not to growing. By no means do I think of myself as an expert. In fact I came here looking for some pointers. Everyone has some really great ideas. I did a big grow a couple years ago that worked out great however I'm now trying a small closet setup. I just started some bag seeds and two NL's about three weeks ago. When complete the room will have a 400w HPS in the top (flowering) area. Right now only the veg section is up and running. I've got a ton of light consisting of (2) 2ft warm whit tubes, (1) 2ft cool white tube, (3) 45w CFL's, (2) 23w CFL's and (1) 50w HPS. I built an interesting fixture for the CFL's which I'll post a pic of soon. If need be I will be able to just switch this over to flowering as the spectrum is pretty well balanced. I am thinking of going hydro however I've only ever used soil and had great results in the past. Waiting on some diesel and hash plant seeds from a dealer friend in NYC. Anyway thanks for all the great info everyone.
PS I forgot the (3) 4 footers I have against the walls in the corners.

I'm interested to see this fixture with your CFL's on it.

Said fixture will accommodate six light bulbs. It's sort of a prototype right now. I picked up six very basic Edison base sockets from a HUD Re-Store for $2.00 for the lot. (People donate building materials and they re-sell them and the proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity...cool right. I get a lot of my supplies there.) Anyway I mounted them to a trapezoidal block of pressure treated lumber I had laying around. I went to school for electrical so a basic circuit like this was a snap. It's rigged up to the rest of the set-up kinda willynilly right now but I'm thinking about using it on a small veg table by itself. It should be enough for that. I was looking for my crappy digital camera earlier but I couldn't find it. I'll take some pics with my film camera (they may be B&W as I don't want to take pics of my garden to the CVS to be developed) but I'll have them up this week. Promise.
