wood pipes, are they only for old men and tobacco?
hey guys
i like to try all sorts of mediums to getting high with weed, unfortunatly somthing i havnt got around to yet is smoking out of a wood pipe. none of my friends ever had one and i was thinking about buying one. is there a reason more people dont smoke weed out of a wooden pipe? maybe the wood would filter out some of the active ingredients ? ::shrug:: any tips...
ive been thinking about smoking it with a bit of pipe tobacco just cuz i love the way it smells and while im not into cigarettes i have no aversion to tobacco in general
also would it be wise to use flavor drops in a wood pipe

I guess people just don't see it as being as elegant. And I'd imagine that the herb smoke would carry a slight woody-taste. Glass pipes don't leave any taste, as I understand it (except for maybe resin from other sessions). But no, I don't think wooden pipes are only for old men and tobacco. Also, most, if not all, glass pipes have a carb built in for quick deliverance of the smoke into the lungs. From the wooden pipes that I've seen, there are no carbs. Smoking out of a pipe without a carb is almost like smoking from a joint/blunt when it comes to deliverance of the medicine. But I wouldn't say it's worse.
I don't think that the wood would filter out any of the active psychoactive and regulatory cannabinoids (CBD). I doubt that it would filter out THC, as that would not make much sense.
Flavor drops? Why? Do you not enjoy the flavor of the herb itself, or maybe you don't get herb that tastes good either because it isn't cured long enough or it is just not good in general (not meant to be offensive)? I wouldn't like the idea of inhaling chemicals that give off extra flavor. Although, putting flavorings in bong water might not be as harmful as the method that you are thinking of.

I own a wooden pipe and it's great. The smokes a little harsher and slightly woody, but it is simple and doesn't attract any attention. Plus people believe you actually smoke tobacco out of them.

Yeah I have a sick wooden pipe I got in Jerusalem. It's in semi-retirement but that thing hits like a champ.

I have a wood pipe that I have had for years. it's a small pipe for smoking weed, not a big one like you would get at a tobacco shop --- those are just for tobacco. Wood pipes are nice becasue the wood absorbs some of the resin, and after awhile the pipe gets "seasonsd" and it hits really nice and smooth. It takes awhile for it to get seasoned, and before it is fully seasoned, it is a little bit harsh, but I never noticed a wood flavor. I don't like the taste of tobacco on my weed, so never smoke weed from a pipe that has been used for tobacco or vice versa.
Grumpy old man:
Back in my day all we had was wood pipes...didn't have no hippity-flippity fancy-pants glass pipes with carbs and suchlike foolishness...had to whittle 'em ourselves outta sticks we found on the ground...used to get splinters every time we smoked...tasted like suckin' on a forest fire...AND WE LIKED IT THAT WAY!!!

well to start, ive definatly had a variety of weed, and theres nothing wrong with the flavor of weed, its nice and fine im just a person who likes to mix things a lot and im not really in love with the flavor as many seem to be
furthermore, i have a metal, straight pipe with no carb so its not a new variant
and as for the bong flavoring i like to use canned juice concentrate so long as the bong isnt too hart to clean, i feel like when i use regualr juice i dont get very much flavor but itd prob work better if there was a diffuser involved (more surface area to carry the floavor on more of the smoke?)
thanks, but it just so happens i like the wood pipes for the reason you dont
