First timer...sex and yield?
This is my first grow, so I'm new at this. I started my plant in late August. I had the lights on 24/0, for about 6-7 weeks. I started my lights on a 12/12 cycle 12 days ago. I'm seeing some nice flowering on the tips, but I'm worried that it may be a male. I see a lot of the "balls" I've read about. But in a few of the balls, I see what looks like pistals emerging. The thing is that I only see one coming out and I had always heard/read there would be two in the shape of a "V". Also, the pistals are only coming out of 3 or 4 of the many balls. Do I just have a slow flowering female, or is it maybe a hermie? I wish I knew how to add pictures.
Also, I was wondering about the yield I could expect? I'm only growing one plant. I bought some really good seeds and I didn't want to waste them on my first grow when I'm just learning. I think I may have vegged the plant too long. When it started growing, it was growing out in a bushy manner. Then when I started the 12/12 cycle, it really shot up, about 8-12 inches in those 12 days. At this point, the plant is about 4 feet high.

pics would help to answer your questions muuuuuch better..let the flowers develop some, because yes the female pistils have been known to look like balls when they first emerge before the pistils finally pop out

well, you shouldn't have to worry too much whether it's male or female, because even if it is a male, you have no other plants that will get "pregnant".
Just keep watching it, and keep it going until you know for sure.
As for your yield, a lot depends on what kind of light you have, the temps its at etc etc. I am very happy with 2 oz of finished product on one plant- I generally have 9 lights under one 1000w HPS. It is generally an accepted fact that a plant will more than double in size from day one of flowering till harvest. So, if you want a plant to be 4 ft tall when finished, you better put it into flowering when its about 1 /1/2 ft high.

Go to the advanced message button. Below the box you type in, there is a button that says "Manage Attachments". Browse and find your picture and attach it to a new message. Tada! :)
As for your problem, until you post a picture, nobody can be 100% ready to diagnose your problem completely. But we can all guess for now. It sounds to me as if you just have an early developing female. Most of the time, they do form 2 hairs at each calyx, but not always. Of course, it is possible that you have a hermie, which in case, is not all 100% bad.... (explained below).
Since you are not growing anything else, and have nothing to accidentally pollinate, I would recommend flowering out your hermie. It will produce a fairly normal yield, but your yield will be 75% seeds. Normally this would suck (when you are trying to produce sinsemillia), except these seeds will be 100% female seeds.
I'm not a crazy fan of feminized seeds, because I love the idea of breeding and hybrid vigor. But for most, feminized seeds are a highly priced, highly sought commodity.

Thanks coma. I'm not only new to growing, but new to the forum. How do you add disclaimers and sig's? Thanks.
