Game journalist calls Haze demo a "mess"
CANOE -- WHAM Gaming - PS3: 'Haze' demo a mess
Summary:
Quote:
"Asininely left-wing, derivative dystopian storyline aside, trailer footage showed Haze as the PS3â??s answer to Halo â?? offering similar style combat and multiplayer, but with a trippy twist. Unfortunately, the demo I played was a complete mess."
Quote:
"The game waited until I was already knee-deep in combat to stop gameplay and show a tutorial on the many uses of NECTAR. This is akin to teaching an aspiring boxer how to punch only after the opening bell."
Quote:
"Truth be told though, the NECTAR didnâ??t seem to do much but create colour streaks across the screen. Enemies were easy to dispatch and the whole experience wasnâ??t very satisfying."
Quote:
"Since Haze attempts to give us a horrifying vision of the future, Iâ??ve decided to render my verdict with the help of my trusty magic eight ball. Verdict: Outlook not so good"

Not the only ones either. IGN is worried as well:

Certainly, while most of our complaints should be fairly easy to rectify, we were left disappointed by Haze's relative lack of polish at this late stage.

i played the haze demo at gamecity in nottingham on saturday. the game studios radical design are only 10 minuates away from my house. the demo is a bit of a mess but the mechanics feel right. the ai could do with a tweak and although the tutorial is crap. how many people really need one to play a fps. it does need final tweaking and balancing but i thought it was good. its not a halo beater though.
