good news/bad news
well i dont think i will be getting any seeds from this cycle.:( i really wanted some that werent around the hermie that happened last time. its funny i almost always get some seeds except the time when i was trying to make some, lol. go figure. oh well i wanted to try something new anyways, i dont know exactly what i want to get yet but i guess i will spring for some new seeds.
on a good note though i upgraded to a 400w switchable.:) i am going to put the ones i have going under it instead of the 150w i have been using. they have 2 weeks of flowering left. will this create any problems? i drank too much last night to attempt hooking it up but i should get it done tomorrow.
i also got some liquid fish and more wormcastings so i wont have to use the MG seedling starter. the guy threw them in when i got the light. he has the cheapest wormcastings i have ever found. only 10$ for 15lbs.
another lighting question though, are medium bases just a standard fixture as compaired to a mogul base with hid lights? because i saw some hps lights that said they have a medium base. could these be used without a ballast? they werent very big only 70w. if they could i could do a little seeding chamber grow and try to make some seeds. i probably do that any way with the 150w. thanks for any help or advise.

keep the 400 abut two feet away the first couple days ... expose the back of your hand to the light, to make sure it isn't too warm (optimal 75 degrees) ... if it seems to be handling the increased light OK, you can move it closer, generally, you will be 18"-30" away, if you have an aircooled hood or cooltube ... you answered your own question, the 'smaller' bulbs have smaller bases, the 'larger' ones have Mogul bases ... :smokin:

thanks, but would you still need a ballast for the smaller hps bulbs. i thought i read that a 400 could be like 12 in from the tops, it isnt a cooltube it will just have a fan blowing on it. i will test for heat anyways and it is probably a good idea to leave a little farther away when changing from the one light to the other. and its not in a cabinet, it basicly has its own bdrm, if that makes any difference.

a work in progress, lol. in my situation i have the light 9" above the tops, and i am fairly confident that this will work. not too hot and alot more air flow than they were in previously. i just need to be patient for the next 2 weeks. i did see a male flower today, im guessing from my past lighting mistakes but i have only 2 weeks left and tomorrow i am going in with a pair of tweezers.
