Do you believe there is a god?

this will probably get moved, but i figured no one looks in that spirituality section anyway, and i wanted a full-fledge debate.

He's right. This will get moved. Our Spirituality sub-forum is one of the most-visited areas of these boards, as you'll see when this gets there.

I would like to hope there's a God. But intellectually I have my doubts. I have seen evidence that makes me think there could be and evidence that makes me think there couldn't, too. I'm not someone who can easily take things on blind faith, and I'm not someone who believes in the super-natural.

I consider myself a "reverent agnostic" and an optimist. There'll forever be a part of me that hopes there is a God. I also consider myself a scientist. That part of me wants concrete proof. I feel very strongly that we all need to respect others' beliefs in this area, no matter what they are.

I actually disagree with what surreys said. I don't think that would happen. Since people never go there now, no one would know that there were more posts in other sections.

People definitely do go to that area. We have to patrol it more closely than nearly any on these boards. You can check the dates on those threads and see that there's daily activity there.

The fact that you use "someone" just shows that you have a very narrow view of what a God can really be.

Without God, there is no hope. When your Mother is in the hospital or your child is injured, when a loved one dies without God there is no hope of seeing them again in a new and perfect body. What other person was willing to be tortured on a cross untill he was dead. Why did he do this? so that if we have faith in him we will oneday be in heaven with him and our loved ones.

But you clearly have a choice. He said not all would be with him for their unbelife. The choice is yours. Make it a good one, it's pretty important.
