Transplanting after flowering?

Hello!! I was wondering if its bad to transplant to a larger container after flowering has been going for a few weeks now.... My problem is that the top of my plant has JUST started to show white hairs whereas the bottom branches have been flowering for weeks. Im thinking maybe the container that the plant is in is way too small seeing as some of the roots are showing through the soil. Maybe the roots are getting too crowded thats why the top is flowering so slow compared to the bottom branches?? What do you guys think?? Your plant is probably not healthy enough to transplant. Normally, if it were absolutely critical, you could in theory transplant. However, with the stress your plant is under, I think a transplant would be dangerously near the point of killing it. Try to nurse it back to health a little bit and then if it greens up a bit, the burn goes away, and such, you *might* be able to attempt a soft transplant. I would do that after a partial harvest of the lower branches though, that way the transplant shock will be better buffered by a larger root system supporting fewer developing buds...

SO before I read the reply I took matters into my own hands and went out and bought a bigger container. It was the easiest transplant ever because the roots had grown so much the whole thing was the root ball. I transplanted into a container about double the size of the old one and put some sheep manure in there. (A friend told me it was good). I also started thinking that maybe this delayed flowering in top is due to the fact that I live in a condo and my balcony doesnt get 100% darkness due to parking lot lights and outdoor lights on the building so Im going to be bringing my plant inside and keeping it in a pitch black room everynight from now on. So far it doesnt look like shes gone into shock (fingers crossed) BUT one of the lower branches is beginning to sag. Im not sure thoughb if thats becuse the buds are weighing it down. Anyways.....thanks so much for the help and I will post in a few days to let you know how my lady is doing :)

did you cut any of the 'tied' root ball ?

It has to help some. What what you must remember is that after the plant has started flowering it puts most it's energy into flowering and root development basically stops. Always transplant (if you can)1-2 weeks before flowering.

I like to transplant into the final size pot...immediately after sexing the plant, however long, into the 12/12 flowering cycle. No use transplanting males...unless, that's the plan.

no i didnt cut any of the root ball.....put soil and all into the larger pot :)

if u mix your old soil with your new soil it should be fine
and before u add the plant to the soil dip the roots in rooting powder
this is a tech i have developed over the years
it reduces the stress by about 90% regardless of age of the plant

im with growbe. once you start flowering root production pretty much stops. I would transplant a couple weeks before flowering. this gives your plants 2 weeks to recover and ensures that your plants aren't shocked when you start to bud.

growbe is 100% correct , ive done this , i potted up 2 weeks into 12/12 on me 1st grow , when it came to harvest time i pulled the plant and it hadnt used any of new soil in the bigger pots , total waste of time / soil and also you risk transplant shock . Any shock or stress during flowering can turn your grow into a disaster .
