screens?

I usually use my friend's pieces, but i made my own 'ghetto' bong with a gatorade bottle, metal pen tube, and a 1/2 new socket. I need to put a screen between the bowl and stem right? wasent real sure so thought id ask first.

can it just sit at the bottom of the bowl (socket) ?

and can i just get like a faucet screen thing from a hardware store. will it work the same as one to be bought. not 18 so cant go into the local 'Bikers Attic' store.

yea yank one from your sink if u need it now and replace it later like you said from a hardware store
