Okay..Take 2! And a question or two.
I gave up on my test grow and decided to start from scratch: soaked a new set of seeds, bought fresh potting soil and put the failed grow away (I'll toss the old dirt and clean the pot).
This time, I soaked the seeds for a full 24 hours, in the cupboard above the fridge for that extra warmth. Best thing I ever did: not only did the seeds split open, but I actually saw at least 1/8" of root growing, a first for me! Makes me wonder how I got any results at all with the mistakes I've made in the past...:wtf:
I prepared two small foam cups by poking holes at the bottom for drainage, filled them with fresh soil and watered them until moist, then I planted the seeds 1" deep. I placed the cups in a plastic tray to collect drainage and put the whole kit and kabootle in my grow cab.
My light fixture has a 200 watt CFL (Natural White, 4100K, 300 Lumens) placed 4-5" above the foam cups. My question: is 4 to 5" close enough to the soil?
Okay..Take 2! And a question or two.
1/4 inch deep is better....and the light will OK until the spout is a couple inches tall...then move closer. Try to find a 6500k bulb for veg.
