looking at trichs
hey, i was wondering if my magnifying glass would be sufficiant to see the color of the trichomes. it's used to look for blemishes on vintage coins. I just wasnt sure wether or not you actually needed a microscope to see, or if a magnifying glass would do. also, it seems like on really good macro shots of bud, when its alive, you can see the clear trichs, but i dont think ive ever seen them looking amber. can you see the color with your naked eye or do i need to buy a microscope? or do you think my magnifying glass will do? thanks

that will do and its not amber i dotn think, i heard from somewhere that amber is just too late, look for milky white and standing up, insyead of clear and laying down.
I think, but the magnifying glass is good.

ideally, you need a 30x power magnifying device ... the Radio Shack $10 pocket microscope works very well ... most magnifying glasses aren't powerful enough ... I harvest at 10% amber trichs ... :smokin:

I dont think that will work bro, as mentioned above radio shack sells
a 60x microscope for 10 bucks! well worth the investment. i tried a
mag glass also and there is no comparison! Get the microscope!!!
do a search on trichomes and youll know when to harvest. if you want a head high harvest when trichs are cloudy. if you want a more
narcotic high, wait till they turn amber. hope this helps!

Radio Shack also sells a real cheap, folding magnifying glass, that has three swiveling lenses ... placing one over another, multiplies the 'power', these also will work, but not as well as the pocket microscope ... :smokin:

It takes a little practice and pacience to get the pocket microscope lined up just right, but when you do, you can really see the thrichomes well. Also you can take photos using the microscope and a camcorder. I harvest at about 10% amber, but I like to have both amber and clear for different reasons.
