The end of the war on drugs is just a vote away
What do you guys think about Mike Gravel and his intentions of legalizing drugs? I'm happy to see a presidential candidate that understands that we shouldn't continue wasting billions of dollars on the war on drugs (wich is innefective anyway). He also speaks of legalizing hard drugs so we can get help for the addicts of the world. Stating that drug addiction is a public health problem, not a criminal problem, is something i've been preaching for years.
Thoughts?

I think he's the man for the job. I don't even care about the drugs thing, although it would be nice, but his views just represent where (I feel) this country should be going. I hadn't heard of him until you mentioned it, but I did some research and sadly, I doubt he will ever become president because the national media hardly recognizes him or mentions his name.

I've been spreading the word about him but sadly, I too think that he will not make it to President, simply because most of America does not even know his name. His views clearly represent where this nation SHOULD be going, but those who speak the absolute truth and make the most sense are never heard. That's how this government wants it to be.

I was sitting in polisci yesterday and thought "hey.. I should be President and speak the truth and shit and get this country out of the goddamn hole that Bush put it in."
Then I read this story.. definitely a big let-down :(

He has coomon sense stand on a lot of issues which is exactly why he won't be elected. Nobody seems to want to elect somebody with common sense. If there was some wat to have a viable 3rd party he would be a good candidate.

Agreed. His intentions on getting the troops out of Iraq is what should be getting him millions of votes. Sadly, the goverment will control who wins this election, just like elections in the past.

Damn, I wish he would be president, because then maybe the UK would follow the same way.
If everything was taxed, people would know what they're getting!
