Im having heat issues in my space. i was thinking how much would it cost to set up a mini ac unit specifically for that one area. its just a closet so it would only be used to lower the temp and thats all. anyone know?

Less than $100 for a 5000btu window shaker at Lowes, home cheapo, or the chinese distribution center (Walmart)
Also, if you decide to go for more stealth, you can get a portable. But the price is steeper--$499 or so.Quote:

I do seem to have a humidity spike when it shuts off. I use a heavy duty timer (like for a pool pump, which are $40) and I wired to that so I can run 12/12 with my light. I added a dehumidfier, though it is probably not needed, but I wanted to keep the humd on the money if possible. I had to dump a 50L container after about 3 weeks, so it is doing something.
you guys talked me into it. im going to install an AC in my closet. i dont want to lower my light wattage so i need to lower the heat.
how about something like this?
Cheap portable air conditioner - Delonghi 10,000 BTU PAC-C100
my buddy has one (not sure if exact same, but sure looks and sounds similar) and it creates some heat, you will need to vent that one for sure. We are pumping it to the attic. You can see I mounted mine in the side of cabinet, the other room gets a little hot but I just vent it.

Have you thought about just using an inline fan pulling air from the outside? I use to window fans and made duct work out of cardboard. I have an intake and an exhaust. All fans are on sale right now at every dept store.
ok well my spot is 6 feet long and 2 feet wide. i just bought a 8000 btu air conditioner. im using a 600 watt hps and a 400 mh in the closet. the temps without the ac are in the low 90's. tomorrow will be my first run with the ac and the lights on. any guesses as to what my new temp will be? ill keep you all posted.
