Are 1 gallon pots big enough for a SOG style plant grow?
Yup!
Flower clones at no more than 8 inches, pack the pots in tight, and enjoy some bud-on-a-stick action!
Cool thanks! Does that mean I veg it till it is 8 inches high and then trim off the side bud sites?
I'd trim off the low bud sites ONLY if I were growing in a hydro/RW/automatic drip system, and then, only after they have put on some height, and only to help with air circulation over the media, and for access to the drippers.
A clone that was taken as only a single growing tip will continue to grow as a single-lead plant anyway. In gallon pots, the spacing between the plants should still allow for decent light penetration. Personally in that case I would leave them unless it is a strain that you already know puts on REALLY nasty, scraggly low shit.
Ok well Im growing in soil with a 250w HPS.... and the strain doesn't produce big buds.
What you reckon with that?
Get a bigger light? :D (sorry... I couldn't help it!)
Well I've never flowered under a hps250, but in that case, the shorter the plants/flatter than canopy, the better.
So if you go for the gallon pots, one thing you could try is bending them over on their sides, or even a nice SCROG, to flatten the canopy and maximize the amount of plant matter exposed to the light.
Ok thanks stinky :) I will do that and post some pics in a couple of weeks when it all kicks off!
