safe to eat low grade weed?

the consensus seems to be that low grade weed works best for cooking. Maybe I'm being paranoid, but wouldn't mass produced field grown weed that ends up being shwag or mid grade have a greater chance of containing harmful chemicals such as pesticides? I don't know anything about the process of growing fields of weed outdoors but I assume that this is where mid grade weed comes from, the kind that has sticks and stems in it. If mid grade weed does in fact contain harmful chemicals I would think it would be a lot safer to smoke it than eat it (the chemicals are metabolized in your liver when eating). Am I alone on this concern? Anyone out there know anything about what commercial growers spray on their crops? Two nights ago I ate a couple grams of mids and I had a loss of feeling in my right leg that I still haven't completely regained. And I read that toxic chemicals can cause nerve damage. Also, I prefer to eat the actual weed, as opposed to filtering it out, since you preserve more of the THC this way. Would it be safer to eat the weed butter/oil with the weed filtered out left in? I wouldn't think there would be any difference unless there are toxic chemicals that dont get released like the THC does. What do you all think?

when makin brownies i've used just an ounce of shwag and it worked just fine...nothin bad... boiled it in the oil and water for about an hr and added the brownie mix and bam u got good brownies... they just dont taste that great, but damn i was high

You can wash it with water since the water won't absorb a lot of THC.

Water will only absorb a trace amount of THC. It's so low it's as good as none at all.
