there are items called trap focus triggers- wildlife photographers use them to photograph animals on trails- sophisticated equipment- better SLR's have this built into flash units - call your local camera store -preferably a pro shop and tell them what you need - tell them you want to photograph animals on a trail so you can shoot the bastards
I've never done outdoor for a start, but good luck catching them :)
My friend uses game cameras, but its to catch the giant buck he's seen near his plants.
If someone has been stealing your plants, be very careful returning to the site- you could be putting yourself in danger.
Also, please confine yourself to one thread per topic. Thanks. I'm merging this one with the preexisting thread in 'outdoor', where it belongs.
Depending on the resolution, a game cam would probably work fine. Most the models I've seen have motion detectors built in and do a nice job of getting the capture. The only question is whether the resolution will be good enough to allow you to ID the people who took them, especially at night.
Maybe the used to, but they don't any more. The motion sensing trigger is sold as a separate attachment. Since it's a pretty specialized item, most smaller camera shops probably won't carry it, so you may need to order it online (check B&H Photo or Adorama web sites). And don't forget that a "better SLR" is going to set you back $2-3k or more, and that's just for the body. Add a wide aperture lense, a good flash (probably going to need a battery pack for it too), and your sensor and you're talking another $1500, at least. As long as it's got the resolution, a game cam is probably better and cheaper .Quote:

Hey,
You might notice there's a post missing- please can we try to avoid any talk of violence even in a situation where we might feel violence would be justified?
Thanks!
If the camera has a flash...and the person is coming at night...then he will simply steal the camera ...as the flash will tell him where its at.
Dive:stoned:
im gonna put a light also at the plants with a motion sensor to distract them from the flash...i im gonna put two cams...mabey they will only see one
