Sorry i'm new to this whole internet thing! Not sure how to get pictures up for you to see without leaving the sight!
A couple of days ago i noticed these tiny black dots on a couple of leaves, it looks like something has eaten away the top layer of the leaf leaving it almost transparent with these dots that kind of look like mould spores or something?..
Ive had a good look & can't see any pests, thankfuly it doesn't look
like spider mite or i'd be crying!
Can any one tell me what they think it is & how i can treat it, the plants are 1/2way through flowering now.. i can't afford to start again! :(
One of the leaves i pulled of was well dried up & buggerd!
Please help,
thanks
kate

You have a thrip problem.
Bomb the flower room with pyrethrin. Your local hydro shop should carry bug bombs that are safe to use up to 3 weeks before harvest.
There are some other things you can also do to help. Rinse off your plants under the sink sprayer to get larvae off the lower leaves- be careful not to get the buds wet.
Put up yellow sticky pest monitor cards.
Take a paper plate and cut a slit from the edge to the center, slip it around the stem of the plant, covering the soil surface while still allowing air flow- this will prevent the larval thrips from dropping down from the leaves to the soil, where they pupate and become sexually mature.

Oh thankyou so much!
I did wonder after reading about 'thrips', but i've
not actually seen any...
Where do these things come from, it seems as soon as
you start using grow lights all sorts can come along &
bugger everything up!
I've got a lot to learn,
Are they as bad as spider mite?,
x

Nope, thrips are not as bad as spider mites. They cause less damage unless you have a REALLY bad infestation, but the damage is easy to spot early and deal with. By the time you see mite damage, you're already fooked.
Also, thrips are easier to eradicate, as they are susceptible to a variety of insecticides that are not very harmful to humans, such as pyrethrin. And their life cycle includes a stage IN the soil, so you can use physical barriers to interrupt it.
Where do htey come from? Shoot, damned if I know, hell maybe?

well like my username says (firstimegrower) but my plant looked similar from too much fert. id definatly go with stinky though
shes never steered me in the wrong direction ! im just a stoopid
noob, what do i know. but my baby is coming along nicely
day 14 of flowering. well good luck and happy gardening!!

I can see why you would say overfert, becuase of the dried up dead leaves- when you look up plant symptoms, burned looking leaves does come up as overfert.
To clarify, overfert burn will start as a tan-brown scorch at the tips and edges.
Dessication from excessive bug damage will cause the leaves to simply shrivel and die as the ones in those pics did.

Thanks again! :)
Hope my wardrobe isn't a gateway to hell!!!

Oh you're in a wardrobe? Then apparently the thrips came from Narnia. They might talk to you... listen close! :D
