question for weedhound
ok so as of now i hold you responsible for the saving of my plants so thank you. i have some questions for you
1. do i always run cal-mag at 6oo ppm when budding or is that just to fix my ca dif?
2. im getting some more clones in the morning so how many ppms of cal mag do i add once the roots hit the water?
3. have you ever heard of a strain called "THE HOG"

question for weedhound
So the plants look better I'm guessing....good. I'm honestly afraid of those Humboldt products although I have used the bushmaster and was not too impressed (I foliar sprayed and it lasted for a few days....then they went nuts again.....did the same a couple days later or something and got the same response) BUT have heard VERY scary things about the Gravity so be careful there.
The person who taught me was very into whatever you want your total ppms of main nutes to be then 1/2 of that total should be CalMag (IF you use RO or distilled water)
If you want 800.....400Calmg and 400nutes. Don't ask me what to do if you have a three part nute mix like GH......never tried it so can't say. I stick with the one part nutes for convenience and less errors. :) So no matter where you are at with your "main" numbers....1/2 should be in CM+ until you reach the maximum amount stated on the bottle (which I believe is about 10ml/gallon.....and I've never come close to that yet; even with my ppms at the highest I use.)
I change things as I need to but my basic numbers are:
Seedlings...0-200 main nutes
Veg...........200-600 main nutes....50-100ppm LK (I go up approx 2oo a week usually)
I start using Sweet 2nd or 3rd week of veg...3-4 ml/gallon.
By this time numbers are up to about 800 INCLUDING supplements. Then....
Bloom.....
800ppm main nutes (CM and pro bloom) plus LK and Sweet. Then I generally up 200 a week and stop at about 1200 in main nutes and then the extra numbers in suppliments (works up to about 1500 generally) and leave it at that number until its time to flush.
These numbers change in relation to how the plant is doing. I've had terrible ph issues lately so when something like stresses the plants I'll back off on the nutes for a while.
Hope that helps and isn't too confusing. ;)
I have heard of the Hog and it seems to be one everyone has heard of but haven't seen very many people actually grow it. I looked into it once but the seeds were too expensive for my taste so it's on my "to grow" list. Didn't it win some awards?
3. Your clones.....I'm sorry but I know nothing about clones. Can you ask the person what you total ppm should be when you get them? Then just go 50/50 w/CalMag and grow nutes. I've honestly never even seen a clone....well I did see some once....some ones THAT I KILLED TRYING TO GET THEM TO GROW. :( So I'm definitely not the one to ask there.
If you have more q's feel free to ask.....I love to talk as you can see. :D
PS....one last piece of cud to chew on.....when in doubt always go on the low side of your nutes....too many nutes will do alot more damage than too little.

i dont know what LK or sweet are could you please explain
yep the hogs won the Cannabis cup in 2002 and my boy got some seeds from Amsterdam when he was there last fall and he's been cloning ever since, i cant get it to work right but he can so he makes extra for me (what a nice guy)
thanks for the fert chart

Sorry, LK is your liquid Karma. Sweet is another supplement by botanicare that I use....not something that your plants need.
EcoGarden Supply :: Nutrients & Growth Supplements :: Botanicare :: Sweet Berry (1 qt.)
I like it but certainly would consider it an extra. Usually adding both (LK and Sweet) ups my ppms about 300 or so.....that's why I count them aside from the main nutes. ;)
Congratulations on a chance to grow "the Hog" You should start a grow log once you get them because I can promise that everyone will be interested in that strain. :) I know I will be.....someday I'd love to grow that strain myself.

Those look really good in the photos...and certainly I'll take the credit for all the work you've done from the time you first got them.....it's alot easier than doing it myself. :D
Believe me....my telling you some numbers did NOT grow you that. You did. Good job. It's easy to snap up every additive, supplement etc to give your plants but I honestly only use the extra two from Botanicare (LK and Sweet) and I like the way my plants do (generally....:wtf:)
It's good to have someone with the hog around ....you should share with everyone. ;)
PS Here is the only kind of hog I have grown....ha ha. :D

I do not use KoolBloom personally but I know two growers (and probably ALOT) who do so I will ask them to stop by this thread and tell you what they think of it. I believe its a bloom booster.....correct? If so then it's more like another product I use called Hydroplex
Hydroplex Bloom Enchancer from 4 hydroponics.com by Growco Indoor Garden Supply
and you start adding that about the fourth week to improve yield. I tend to like to stick to "product lines" (in this case...botanicare) because I think it causes less issues with different nutes etc interacting BUT alot of people use several different brands and do just fine so I'm not saying one is better than the other.
Lk....in sort of sloppy terms I'd probably call it something like a vitamin for your plants or something. I know the Sweet adds carbs but don't ask me to break those two down and tell you how they work. No clue. :stoned: They were recommended to me by the man at my hydro store and his word is law in my book so I use them. How's that for some plant knowledge? :D
