Change the color of a CFL...???
Hi,
I have a weird question. Since there is a certain blue light Metal Halide bulbs give off plants need for there Growing/Vegetative period. Is there a way to alter/cover the bulb of a CFL to change the color of the light? Maybe a covering or something will work on the light. Some guy on another web site told me to spray pant the bulb. I thought that was crazy and totally not safe. Any one got any ideas?:rastasmoke:

CFLs are available in the color spectrums you want. Why would you want to make it more complicated than that?

Change the color of a CFL...???
I know they come in different color spectrums. I just was wondering. My friends a I where talking about it. Just an idea we where kicking around. In the long run I am going to buy some Cool and Warm CFLâ??s

I have never heard of such a thing. Honestly, I wouldn't even waist my time with that. Buy them in the spectrum you want for whatever stage your plant's life is in. I really do not think that your "paint" idea would come close to working. There is more to the science of lumens, kelvins etc that help a plant to grow. Paint will probably just cover and cut off what your plant really needs anyway.
good luck

That's what I thought. I am going to stick with my 4 CFL's for now and later I will move up to a T5 or a 400w HPS system.
Thanks Everyoneâ?¦

Plant's PhotoPeriods are NOT interrupted by a green covered light bulb. Yes, it alters plant growth.
