topping question
hello everyone, i have a question which may or may not be a stupid one. this year was my first outdoor grow. i started with two plants, 1 was male and was removed before the other (female) even showed. anyways my question is this: about a week and a half before the female started to show preflowers, without first asking myself this question (which i have yet to ask) i topped the plant. now for the big question, will having topped the plant right before flowering affect bud production? if so, how? thanks for any and all comments.

You prob should have topped it a little sooner. It's not that your losing bud, your not gaining more bud

puts my mind at ease, greatly appreciated.

ideally you should top them while they are small, let them grow and build a thicker stalk and main cola stem before flowering. that will increase you bud production greatly. By topping when you did, you should be able to at least grow what you would have before topping even if your plant is a bit squattier. I usually top them, wait a bit, top the two main colas again producing 4, letting it grow building stalk and stem size/strength then flowering. you can see an example of one of my plants just under 4 weeks 12/12 here:

I just posted the pics today.
Hope this helps.

You topped about a week and a half late, and any later would have been BAD, but you are okay.

topping question
the plant was roughly three feet tall before topping. i had tried to top it earlier in the vegging, but it didn't do anything. my other plant (male) which was topped earlier in the year responded well but the female did not. the two tops that came up after i topped it a couple weeks ago are only about 5 inches in height now.
