PS3 News: Resident Evil 5 Trailer Racist?

is it just me or is that completely ridiculous? (i'm not even some huge fan of RE, so it's not cuz 'i feel like my game is being attacked' i could personally give a shit even if it were cut from release)

OK. I vote no, not racist. It seems to take place in some African village, so there should be lots of black folks running around. And if there's lots of zombies running around, I'd kill them no matter what color they are.

I've seen the trailer, it takes place somewhere in Africa. One of those desolate poor nations where tribal members are running around killing people with machettes.... and of course the people with machettes turn into zombies and whatnot, so you run around in a village with hoards of zombie Africans after you. I actually suspected somebody might cry "racist!" when I saw it, but that's only because of our rediculous double-standards in political correctness. Resident Evil 4 was basically the same thing but in an eastern-european village; same thing different part of the world.

But on a non-race-related note, I'm still not cool with this new theme. At first I thought it was just a pretty scary lookin theme, but then I realized it was moreso because it struck a nerve as being something real. I mean there are, in real life, millions of people dying from tribes running around with machettes cutting off the heads of men, women, and children. That's some deeply disturbing shit as is, I think making the same terrifying reality into a videogame for us to play just aint cool. I know if I was in that situation, watching my friends and family getting slaughtered, I'd be pretty pissed off if millions of rich kids were playing at it like a game.

Yeah, because Africa is prodominatly occupied by white people.

If that's the case I may as well make a claim that all the previous Resident Evils are racist towards white people.

very true, and i agree with you on that.

but as we all know, people will make games, songs, books, and movies out of any event, tragic or not to profit from...

i'm still waiting to see "Flights of 9/11... Terrorist Missions" or some equal type crap....

oh and idon't mean waiting so i can buy it :p to tell you the truth, i'm honestly suprised it's been used as little as it has to monopolize the situation... (i mean yeah it's been used ALOT, but far less then i'd of ever expected)

this game is gonna be sick the last one was bloody briliant, I cant wait for the movie (3) as for racist you cant make a game in africa without haveing africans it would be racicst if they had a set in africa and their were nuthing but white guys play africans but who knows. Tony Montana was a white guy playing a cuban and thats was briliant and in some Rodriguez films hes got non indigenous people playing mexicans and it came out amazing.
