Too Early?
Ok, this is a first grow, and I don't think enough research was done to start. Two of these GE tubes were used along with two smaller tubes from Walmart (unknown brand and specs). Into 4 weeks of flowering, there doesn't seem to be much bud growth. There's a decent amount of pistols, but it seems as though there isn't much bud bulking up near the stem. Miracle Grow has been the only fertilizer used along with distilled water. Also, one plant is already starting to sport reddish/brown pistols (I'd estimate ~1/3 of them). I know that's far too early, and it doesn't even seem like there's anything on these to harvest. What went wrong? What should be done? What can be done better for next time?

Good point. I looked into HPS today. It looks pretty expensive.
Right now there are probably only ~4500 - 5000 lumens, and apparently that's pretty low. Plus, the spectrum sucks, right? Curse you, fluorescent lights!

I paid 150 bucks for my 400 watt HPS and it has paid for itself 10 fold. Its a great investment if you really want to get some good results. I'm not saying you can't grow decent buds with floros, because I have. But I wouldn't trade this HPS for anything.

Uhhh, your plants are committing suicide from owner abuse. lol Those lights will never work... If you're trying to do this on the cheap, that's cool, but read the link I've attached. You dont have to build the box, but, there is good information for lighting small grows.
You said it yourself...if you would have done the reasearch, you'd have buds bud. Just let these grow out, dry what you can, and do better next time...B
