moral majority or moral hypocracy
first off let me say im talking about hard-line evangelecals and i know all christians dont fall into this catergorary.
with that said, i find it blatant hypocracy that moral majority and so called religious right are so against and very vocal in opposition to abortion and stem cell research while being silent over the death penalty and the war in iraq. i thought their message was to respect all life, not just fetuses. I mean didnt jesus say to the crowd ready to stone an adultorous women 'let he without sin cast the first stone'. Also i doubt jesus would have started the war in iraq he always appeared to be a pacifist especially when he was having the shit beat out of him. I hate to say one of the only christian denominations to be consistent in its pro-life platform is the catholic church.
The reason i think the reason pat robertson and the rest of the moral majority are so silent about the death penalty and the war is the fact it merged so completly with the republican party, you know its like dont bite the hand that feeds.
anyone elses opinions?
moral majority or moral hypocracy
Juggalo, I like your posts, and I find our opinions to be similar... :D
Remember WW2? The pope at the time knew exactly what was going on in Germany, but since Mussolini and Hitler basically co-opted the Church, the pope didn't have anything bad to say about what was goign on there...
Before that, throughout hisotry, various have been in favor of wars, sometimes even promoting, causing, and even preparing for them. (i.e. wars in the renaissance, 30 years' war, crusades, etc....)

moral majority or moral hypocracy
Vatican 2 is a sham. It was just PR, nothing else. I don't think anything changed at all because of that. One slightly more liberal pope can't do much when all his successors are more conservative....
