One of my youngsters has some strange stuff going on with the leaves. After reading about lockout and roootbound, i will be transplanting today, howver I don't think that is the problem.
Can anyone shed some light for me?
They are 5 weeks old, MG potting soil, RO water only no nutes, 18/6 germed from seed.
And while we are at it, can I set to 12/12 now to sex and then return to 18/6 without too much stress?

from what i've read, swiching light patterns is not a good idea...too much stress
I'd also switch to tap water fro the Calcium in it. The leaves that are already dead look to me like they had been Ca deficient, among other things.
You are ready to start feeding.
I see what looks like a potassium deficiency too, but it could be scarring from previous insect damage. Looks more like K def though. The brown spots. Plus N def- the splotchy paleness around them.
A feeding with fish emulsion should take care of both the N def and the Ca problem btw.
your problem isn't being 'root-bound' ... I consistently grew 5-footers in 8-inch clay pots, with never a hint of 'rootbound' symtoms ... I did switch to the big #5 pots, though, when I learned pot-size is related to buds-size, and yield ... :smokin:
Ya know, I had leaves just like the one your holding and no matter what symptom solution I looked up, nothing had a picture of exactly what it was.
Based on suggestions I recieved, I picked up some fert that had alot of Mirco nutrients in it and that seemed to help alot... well, that and the plant turned out to be male, but it was starting to be healthy before I killed it! :)
I can't remember the exact name of the fert, but it was for Orchids and from Lowes.
Good luck! Misc symptoms can be a PITA.
Oh! I bet I know what it was, the Jack's Classic Orchid formula.
I have used that before and find it to be a pretty darn good product for the price.
I wouldn't do the 12/12 then back to 18/6 thing either.

Cool, it has micros- that's the most important thing to see when you are trying to treat a weird deficiency.
It's a little on the strong side so about 50% of the suggested dilution strength will be a little safer until you know how your plants will like it.
Dizzy your av always makes me giggle. I would expect a nun to have a far more shocked expression when confronted with a bud equivalent to 75% of her body weight! :D
