No its not for me but for John actually. A week ago he was eating and half of his molar fell out. So he went to the dentists and they said since its absessed it needs cut out. He's all nervous b/c we have to go tommorow morning. Anything I should know? How much pain will he be in?
I haven't had that exact experience, but I've had teeth pulled, root canals, and major oral surgery involving infected things being cut out of my gums by periodontists. With novacaine, it won't hurt at all. Hope he feels better later. I'm sure it will be fine.Quote:

I was going to get a wisdom tooth pulled one time. When I went to the dentist, he told me he'd have to cut it out rather than pull it. And they did not want to give me gas. I let no one cut inside my mout unless I'm completely out of it. I said f#(K that and got some antibiotics to make the inflammation go away. It hasn't bothered me since. Sorry not exactly the feedback you were looking for, maybe even a little discouraging. Just tell John I'm a pussy and he'll be fine. :D
I don't think he'll be knocked-out. He'll probably be told to eat soft food, not rinse for a day or two, or take aspirin (tylenol is OK), because it has to heal. He may have to go back in a week or two to have the stitches taken out, and the doctor may want him to come back again in six months to check it again.Quote:

i can garuntee either way tho it's not cheap... and if it's only one tooth... well it'll more than likely be over before he knows it...
you could also have him ask his dentist to give him an anti-anxiety medication before doing any work.... not all dentists have them, but alot do.
Thanks guys, yeah so far hes gotten antibiotics and some pain pills. He's gonna be bummed that there not knocking him out. Luckily he has good insurance. I cant even imagine how expensive it would be without it.

If he's nervous, you should've asked for some valium. Seems like most places (especially college campus offices) will hand it out like candy. They gave my brother 6 for his wisdom teeth.
Smoking is bad, if he smokes tell him not too. It causes some problem, (cant rember the name) and I think it like dries out the gum. But, they will probally give him a big shot of Novacain, so there wont be too much pain
