Questions about an inline duct fan....

I bought a 6 inch inline duct fan made by Aero~Flo Model AF-6 I lost all the paperwork about the install of the fan and now when I'm going to hook it up I'm a lil lost. So here are the specs of it and hopefully you guys can help me...

It's an;

Power Input: 120 VAC. 60 HZ.
Max Amps. 0.64
Max Watts 37.0
Certified for use to 266 degrees F

With an impedence & thermal protected self lubricating motor. It has 2 wires coming out of it both are copper with black insulation and white writing that says the same on both wires, they both go down to the fan motor on the right side one on the left side. I'm wanting to hook it up directly to a plug the to a wall outlet, can I do this and if so which wire is the ground and which is the hot? Will it be safe to run it directly wired and plugged in to an outlet, any info would be great.....? Thanks

there is no ground both wires are hot ........grab a receptical, wire one side to white the other to black if the fan spins backward....reverse them :)

So it will be safe to just wire a plug to the fan, then plug it to a wall outlet, no need for anything else? I just want to make sure it's safe and not going to ruin the fan as I'm low on cash and cant buy another fan. Also both wires are plg on the fan as well as the cord that i'm using for the plug.

Dive:stoned: - I've read a lot of your posts and usually you give good advice, but you should stay away from electrical questions. :D

LTS - put a cord on the fan and it will work. It doesn't matter which side is which. The fan will only spin one way. :thumbsup:

lol yea its only DC current that you can reverse polarity on a motor not AC

It's a plug, sorry typo... I was asking if everything would be ok if i just wired the fan up to a cord with a plug and then plugged it into a wall outlet. So no matter what wire i hook up it will run and not burn up the motor. I just want to makie sure it's hooked up right. With the correct cord wires going to the correct wires on the fan. Thanks

I am 99% sure that you can wire a plug (or cord) to those two wires, as discussed above. To be 100% sure, take a real close look at your fan. Is there anything else that looks like an electrical connection (a brass screw or lug or connection)?

... or your fan could be some really weird model that is wired differently from most other fans.:wtf:

It's probably easier to do a little research than to earn the money to buy a new fan. ;)

This is my fan the AF-6, no other connections besides the two wires coming from either side of the motor.

It says on that page "direct to 115v source", so you are good to go.

Put a plug, or a cord with a plug, on that puppy and make her spin! :thumbsup:
