Growing outdoor plants, indoor, thru winter.

I currently have a grow in a garden shed. A couple of 600w HPS, and some canna coco, and the ladies are blooming just fine. My concern however, is that when the frosty nights arrive, and the British weather turns, just running the lights at night time to compensate for daytime/nightime temperatures, will not be sufficient to ensure adequete temperature control. In other words, i will have to artificially heat the growroom on the lights off cycle, and maybee even lights on.
British winters can get quite harsh, and i do not know if white widow would continue to flurish under such extreems.

Therefore, would anyone agree that maybee switching to an outdoor variety thru the winter months, would have a better chance of success. Presuming that outdoor varieties are more hardy than indoor.
Has anyone ever grown outdoor strains under HPS ? Im sure it must have been done.

I grew an assortment of bag seeds from some good Humboldt and Mendocino outdoor. They grew quite happily inside.

outdoor strains are not any more tolerant to cold weather than indoor strains so would suggest you find a way to heat the shed if necasary it usually has to drop below freezing to kill a plant.

If you are flowering right now, you should be done with this crop before winter starts. Why not start your next crop so that the propogation and vegging are done during the coldest months. Then your lights can do most of the heating for 18 hours per day.

You might also consider investing in some insulation.
