Can I use this to grow with??
I am wondering if I can use a floodlight like they use in a motion sensitive security light for flowering. I have seen plans to use a yardlight but I need something small inexpensive and will work in a small cabinet to flower with. This being said does a floodlight give off the correct spectrum of light for flowering?? Any help is greatly appreciated.

It might work but chances are your bud will be less and those put off alot of heat. I am almost certain they would put out less lumens. You can buy 40 watt cool white setups in a hardware store for under 20 bucks. Buy about 4 and you can grow good. A cabinet is good because it will keep light from escaping. Compact flourescents work also.

The 40 watt cool whites are flouros? Also can you tell me what a compact flourescent is? Is that one that screws into a light socket? Also what are the bulbs called that put off the red light spectrum for growing? I am looking to go flourescent with everything. Please help me!!

Cool whites for veg.
I think the warm whites would be better for flowering but the main thing you want is lumens. I would say at least fifty watts per cubic foot of flowering area. Compact flos. screw into a light socket.

IF you go with compact flos go with the highest possible actual wattage you can find.

Get yourself the CF lights from wallmart, they come in three packs, get also (if you can) a Y adapter for 2 bulbs in 1 socket and a clamp style worklight reflector, I got all three items from wallmart:
3-pack lights CF 3300K (soft white): $9.44+
1 reflector: $7.42+
1 Y-adapter: $0.58 = $17.44 before taxes ;)
I have some pics of how I have been using these lights with good results: the light with 2 bulbs is for the top of the plant, the light with one bulb goes on the side of the plant, and gets moved to a different side every second day

I have seen compacts that are colored. How do you think it would work to get a red one? Also what does CF stand for?? I have a westinghouse twist bulb 23w 120v 60hz 370mA. Can I use this bulb or should I have something else??
