Mole removal?
I have pretty dark skin and several moles on my skin also, mostly on my back but one my arm and one on my chest. And I wouldn't mind parting with them. I don't really think they look bad, per se, but I'd just rather see them go for aesthetic and potential health reasons, probably 3 or 4 total.
Has anybody ever removed any moles before? Do those things that you can buy in the stores (those little "freeze" things) actually work or should I see a dermatologist? How expensive would it be for some doctor to do the little procedure?

Those freeze solutions you buy at the drugstore are mostly intended for warts.
A mole, or a nevus, as it's properly called, needs to be taken off by a doctor so he/she can send it for pathological evaluation. They can excise a mole by essentially shaving it off, or remove it surgically with some surrounding tissue if it looks suspicious. Or freeze or burn it off, but their cryo-procedure (freezing) is different from that Freezone wart remover. That's basically an acid that burns warts off. It doesn't leave a bad scar at all. It'll be pink for a time and then fade to white. And it's not a painful procedure.
I had a little brown mole removed from my neck. My husband loved it. He called it a love spot. But I hated it. It itched and I sometimes scraped it with the comb when my hair was longer. Now you can't even tell anything was ever there. It was very small. I'm not a very moley person. But I'm glad I had that one taken off.

dr. birdgirl arrives on the scene. :)
how expensive do you think it would be to get, say, 4 moles removed?
i have like 150 moles on my body but almost all of them are very small, like pinhead-sized and barely noticeable. but i have about a half-dozen that are either raised and/or inconsistently colored.

Do you have insurance? I'm guessing the fee-for-service price would be about $150 apiece, which would include the excision and pathological examination, but I might be totally wrong about that. The one I had done was many years ago, and I think they charged my insurance $65, but prices have gone way up since then.

i've had one removed in the way birdgirl said and it left a scar and it's not too big and doesn't really bother me any. it was on like my side above my hip bone.

Mole removal?
I had one next to my twig n berries removed when I was about 10 or 11, as you can imagine I was a bit nervious about any work in that area involving a razor, but it was pretty quick and painless (my whole junk was numb....kinda strange feeling).
I have another mole on my head kind of where my sideburns are at, I want to get it removed because EVERY FUCKING TIME I go to get a hair cut they nick it with the damn electric clippers....one idiot must have thought I couldn't feel it because she continued to hit it as if it would cut off from the shaver, I had to tell her to stop. As much as I want that one removed my mom keeps telling me it will screw up my hair and probably leave a bald patch. Does anybody know if that is true? The other mole I had removed is now covered with pubes but it's also been some years since I had that taken off.
I believe they are good to get removed because they can be cancerous, skin cancer runs in my family and my sister has already had a couple cancerous moles removed so that makes me pretty nervious.

i removed one on my wrist by burning it while at a campfire about 3 years ago. left a scar. about a year ago, it showed signs of showing up again, so i burned it again with a match. now its just an unoticable faded white patch. im happy with the result but i feel like i probly shouldnt have done it for some reason.
