Old timer needs a little help please...thank you
Hey everyone, well my daughter picked up some soil and bought Schultz Premium potting soil
Ok...It says on the front "Feeds up to 9 months"...with schultz extended feed plant food
..Now I know this is bad, then it says this..."Contains canadian sphagnum peat moss, perlite, composted organic material and wetting agen for moisture and aeration
Ok...due to my illness, Im not able to get out in the next few days...Is there any way to grow with this soil? Or at least grow 2 weeks, then transplant into other soil?
Thanks guys

I say go for it, but I'm no expert...

Yea I'll just grow them till 2 weeks and then transplant into new soil with out extended feed, etc.
If I leave them in the soil longer, I fear ph problems, nute lock out, etc..
any other advice guys?

I say no. Because the soil contains nutes - and if it is feeding up to 9 months then its going to be slow release nutes. Growing even for two weeks IMHO is not a good idea because even when you transplant, the root ball will still contain these slow release fertilizers. If these dont burn your plants right away, they may mess with your feeding when that begins in a few weeks. Seedlings need no nutes until at least the fifth set of leaves, from what I understand. This is what I did, and although I am only on my first grow, I am almost finished and I had relatively few problems. I really liked the soil I used - I used a perlite, light seedling mix for the seedlings, then I switched to Fox Farm's Happy Frog Soil. I also understand (from what people have said) that pro-mix (which is readily available at the the depot, or wally world) is also able to be used. If you want happy frog or any other fox farms stuff, I do believe your best bet would be a hydroponics store. Hope this helped ya bud, just don't want anything to go wrong for ya ! :rastasmoke:

...you can get by with it ...if you keep the nute feedings down to 1/4 strenght.....20/20/20 for veg cycle....and I like 10/52/10 for flowering....good drainage is critical....don't overwater...get a moisture meter.....HPS lights...etc...etc...enjoy....(us old dudes need to stick together)......
Do you have a good complete growguide?...if not...get one.
