Is it all in my head?

Not sure if this is the right forum to post this in, but..

I'm 20 years old and for as long as I can remember, I've had a bit of a problem with my attention span. I'll say it started somewhere around highschool, my grades started to slip and they kinda stayed on the fast track to mediocrity. Now, though, I'm an art student majoring in animation and I'm pretty happy with where my life is- I've got a good girl, my friends are awesome, and I'm developing my skills nicely.

However, it wasn't untill I started experimenting with drugs that I realized how awfull my 'attention span' is. It's been a reoccuring problem for me to try to sit down and get something done- it's like no matter how much I want to do it, when it comes down to doing it my attention seems to just float away. Motivation runs dry after I start to get something done and I usually end up leaving things half finished (if even that) and sometimes I just forget what I was doing all together.

I've noticed though, that when I sit down to do something after taking a few hits, I have the patience and focus to sit down and work on whatever it is I intend to work on. I don't really know how I would have gotten past my finals last quarter if it hadn't been for the crip keeping me from tearing my computer apart.

Am I the only one that seems to focus better when I'm high? Does anyone else seem to experiance something like this? I've been thinking about visiting with a shrink about it, as maybe I do have some kind of legitimate attention disorder. I want to deal with it now, because I need to knuckle down and get things done on time.

Any feedback would be appreciated. I've been clean for about two weeks now, and quite frankly, I haven't been able to get myself to finish a damn thing.

It's all you, you can do it if you really really want to, you just don't. I have the same problem. I'm a relatively smart kid, usually know what I'm talking about, I don't act black or anything, I just have shitty fucking grades, which I thought I was going to bring back up but I never did. I can learn anything interesting. I think our problem is more common than you think. I've seen smart people stupid as fuck, and stupid people telling me what's up. It just depends on you and if you want to do it. All I can really say is, keep trying, read about school stuff on wikipedia or something. You can do it, I know you can, you just don't want to. I've also experienced being more capable of concentrating when high. I've seen people drive better high. Now if you will excuse me, I'm going to go take some bong rips.

Well... there is a lot of research about the use of weed in cases of A.D.D and A.D.H.D. Try to do some search in this forums, im sure you will find a lot uf useful information.
Anyway, if weed makes you work better, then just smoke. I have not problems of attention, but of motivation. When im sober nothing is worth the effort, so i hardly can do anything well. But when im stoned everything is much more interesting and worth, so i only do good work when im stoned.
And, if you works with art, im sure weed will give you a lot of inspiration and creativity... so, keep smoking! :rastasmoke::thumbsup:

I focus so much better high, as long as you don't overdo it, ya'know?

All that weed has ever brought me was focus, munchies, kottonmouth, and almost a criminal record :O

Hi Sir Raf.Many people find that they can be more focused after using cannabis.You are not on your own in how you feel.Reading your post again,the last sentence sums it all up.No weed =no concentration.There is plenty of evidence to suggest that cannabis has a positive effect with ADD and related issues.I personally think you have answered your own questions in your post.Spark up and study.All the best.Peace Chris

I work as a teacher's aide, and a few years ago, I had a kid with severe ADD who was failing Science and math. The days he came to school reeking of pot, were the days he did his best work! The teacher and I both realized the situation and "turned a blind eye" toward his pot use. He passed 7th grade by the skin of his teeth (with a little help from "Mary Jane" :thumbsup:). So you aren't the only one who benefits from a "wake and bake" before school!

Try writing your papers stoned and "clean them up" while straight! I graduated from college with honors and most of my papers were written stoned! (Math was a disaster, stoned, though, but that's just me!) As long as getting stoned is beneficial to your grades, go with it!- Granny:hippy:

yeah i know what you mean. when i'm sober im a worthless, lazy fuck. but after blazing for a while, i actually get stuff done, like the stuff that takes a lot of thinking, especially writing. this is why i try to stay high as much as possible 'cause my productivity jumps up sharply.
