my soil mix?

is this soil mix okay - 50% potting mix,10 sand,20 perlite,20 compost? ive been growing for about 3 years now and i just always use 100% potting mix, now that i would start to grow like you guys i would like to ask a good simple soil mix. lol. tnx.. :rastasmoke:

Lose the sand and you're in business. Up the amount of compost and perlite. Good times. Compost roxors.

I'm happy with the Perlite/Vermiculite blend in a Peat based mixture.

But that's just me.

Soiless Mixtures is the way to go! Total Control = Controllable Yield.

besides, once you add the nutrients in it essentially becomes "Soil".

would you add any dolomite lime to the mix?

I add one cup of dolomite lime to every gallon of soil mix ... (and, I am puzzled at Stinky's rejection of sand) ... I always add a bit of washed plaster sand to my soil, just helps aeration, and drainage :smokin:

I reject sand because perlite serves the same function and is lighter, lol... since my grow is on the 3rd floor... :D
But seriously for aeration perlite does the job just fine. And yes, I've seen nOObs take "sand" to mean "let me go scrape up that pile that the snowplow guy left behind" lol... WASHED sand is the key here!

haha yea i done that before... my first grow i used sand from the front yard and it had bad results...

yea its messed up you cant use dirt from the desert...lol but yea now i have some miracle gro organic mix and potting mix in a mix...lol and some nutes about 1/4 a t/s in a 1 liter bottle of water...
