Being a father is just about the toughest thing ever. It is not so much that each individual responsibility is difficult, but in this case, the whole is mightily greater than the sum of its parts.
My wife commented to me that being a parent is a lot like being a prisoner of war: you're denied uninterrupted sleep; you're subjected to loud, piercing noises (usually at odd hours); you're often in a filthy and smelly environment; someone is always yelling at you; and there is no reprieve in sight. She's right.
And yet, would I change it all if I could? Never!
It's weird how that is.
