We are seriously thinking of investing in a couple of these cabinets 1.4mtr square by 2mtr high.
We will have four plants per cabinet using 400w hps has anyone tried this type of cabinet we would hate to make an expensive mistake as they will cost the equivilent of 500 dollars thats without extraction lights etc.
It looks really good mate. If your prepared to spend the cash then looks like a great investment.
they are a quick sample of the same old c-13 cab that people have used for years. You should be fine with them.

I don't know what brand your photo is, but you should check out "Hydro Huts", they are kinda the industry leader in these types of structures.
One of the things you need to look for is holes for vents etc. If you have to cut your own holes...
Search Hydro-huts - there's lots of good stuff from people who use them.
Yes, those will work fine, they look like the European version of the HydroHut. Are you using two because one is for vegging and the other for flowering? Because they do make one that is 1.4m x 2.5m (approx) that is twice as wide. 400w will work but 600w would be great. I started mine with 400w but found that if I really wanted the big nugs I needed a bigger light - the digital 600w puts out almost 2x the lumens as a 400w.

Of course not :D the more light the better!!! But... with power comes heat like you said.
I think with a 600w you may be pushing it with only 2 fans. Maybe 2 intake fans and 1 extraction fan? If your willing to do that.
I'm running a 400W in a 4x4 hydrohut. Let me tell you what, the HH's are sooo much better than the Home Box's. Plus, they are a whole hell of a lot cheaper. Check out their website: Hydrohut - Perfect indoor green house & hydroponic chamber
They've got a ton of options, in terms of sizes available.
In my 4x4 tent I only have one 265cfm fan (6" flange) sucking in through a 6" flanged carbon filter (can33) and through an air-cooled econocool hood with a 400W hortilux bulb and my ballast is a 400W digital. All of my electrical components and equipment is inside of my tent. I run an ebb and flow table (large 3' by 3') with a 40 gall. rez.
I have no heat problems whatsoever. The only time I ever get above 82 deg. F is when my ambient room temps. start going up. I took care of that by buying a portable a/c for the room (ducts outside to a window through 5" plastic ducting). I have no noise issues (use a fan controller), no heat issues, no humidity issues (I use a dehumidifier I bought from Walmart along with an Air-2 temp./humistat controller), no smells...nothing. This tent is awesome.

BG Hydro (google it!) is probably the cheapest place to get the tent...they're out of California.
The thing with these tents is that you *don't need* two fans. You have the option of doing so, but there's really no point. With a minimal carbon filter you only really need 175cfm's of fan power exhausting the tent. If you've got a higher cfm rating on your carbon filter, then your exhaust needs will need to be higher, but that still only concerns the one exhaust fan. If your space still overheats, then you're looking at two possible problems:
1. Incoming air is restricted (your ducting is too small. Shouldn't be a problem with the HH's as there's a large open "duct" on three sides of the tent.
Or....
2. Your room temperatures are too high and so your tent will not cool.
If you keep your room temps. reasonable there's no reason why you couldn't burn a 1kw bulb in the tent. In fact, I'm gearing up to do just that. I'm going to keep my 400w digi ballast and buy a 600w digi ballast so I can run them both at the same time---the 400w will be a mh and the 600w will be hps. Though, I might experiment with them by using the 600w as a mh fixture for the grow cycle and then switching them around for the flowering.
The 4x8 tent can easily accomidate 2kw's of lights in it. :thumbsup:
I HEARD HYDRO HUTS WORK REALLY WELL A FRIEND USED 1 AND HAD GREAT RESULTS TRY LOOKIN INTO THEM FIRST BUT THAT CAB LOOKS GOOD MAN I WISH I HAD THE CASH TO GET 1...
