hello d3struct, if you must clip the branches; do it before the plants flower. then you can try to clone them. also, if you clip them very close to the main stalk they shouldn't sprout any new branches. have you thought about tieing them back, or tieing the top down, so you can keep the lower branchs?

If your going to FIM you must leave one set of leaves on at least.

When thinking about trimming leaves, keep the following in mind: the leaves are the only source of energy a plant has. The healthier the foliage is the more energy the plant has for growth. About half way through its life, a leaf reaches its peak. From that point on, its photosynthesis slows dramatically â?? the leaf takes in less nourishment and is not much of a sugar factory for th plant. The leaf does, however, act as a buffer to take up any slack by the root system. It will start sending its nutrients and sugars to the younger leaves, shoots, and any place of shortage. It will keep shipping out its nutrients until it falls off the plant.
If the root system is healthy and shipping lots of nutrients to the new growth, the older leaves can be sacrificed to allow more light to strike the younger leaves that are better energy producers. However, do not indiscriminately pull off leaves because most of them should remain to feed the plant.
I once read some were that the more leaves the more energy the plant receives. More leaves the bigger the root system and energy it can store. End results more energy the plant can use to get bigger better bud.
