hey guys. I live in Maine and this is my first year cultivating. I am growing my plants indoor for a month w/ 18 hours of light, then budding them outside. When I do put them outside I plan to check them every day for males.
if I succeed in eliminating all the males, then what about pollen in the air? will the pollen that floating around in the air (not from males, from woods/ ponds) cause my females to produce seed?
if you remove all the males and there is not any males in close proximity like a few hundred yards then you plants shouldnt produce seed.
it requires pollen from a cannabis or hemp plant pollen from other sources really has no affect.

Pollen from other plants causing a Cannabis plant to produce seed is like a human trying to get an animal pregnant lol. :wtf:
If you can knock up a moose, your lil green bitches are in trouble from the tree pollen... other than that, you're safe! :D
If you're in Maine, you're not gonna see any flowering action until mid-August, anyway. ( Unless you're growing lowryder or some other abomination) So yer good till then. And you probabley don't need to check every day- once a week will do ya.
I hate to disagree w/ the esteemed consensus, and esp Stinky ( as she could kick my ass) but-
Cannabis pollen can be air-borne for incredible distances. If you pull all your boys, but good ol' Clem a half mile upwind just lets his go, you could end up with light seeding. It's just one of the risks of working outside. But it'll be minor, and won't really affect quantity/quality.

Yeah I've heard it can travel a mile or so in the right conditions.....don't work outside so don't really know. Pretty helpful wasn't I? :D
Plants are not animals and don't alway follow mammalian rules! There is a plant call Fatsia japananica ( I had a glass of wine tonight so my spelling may be a bit off) and lo and behold is can be crossed with ivy (Hedera species)- a totally different and unrelated plant! It produces a plant called fatshedera- a real hybrid! Now I don't know if our beloved cannabis can do this feat, but it is marginally possible that another species can pollinate cannabis. - Granny:hippy:
Meh, I guess you haven't seen the threads where I've discouraged [that's putting it nicely] people from just randomly tossing seeds all over the place if they don't intend to return and kill the males. Because I would be RIPSHIT if Clem let his studs into my stable.Quote:

Wow!, I never really thought of the repercussions that could follow from throwing seeds anywhere. This could be very bad for me and other outdoor growers in my area seeing as how a friend of mine has a plan to populate a very large park that surrounds where we live and goes on for miles. That plan went into effect 2 and a half weeks ago when he tossed a few pounds of schwag seeds he has collected for awhile ALL OVER the park. I don't know how this will turn out, but with literally tens of thousands of seeds tossed into the park, I expect they will grow in large numbers and the males will pollenate the females and spread even more through the park. And it has been raining good and hard lately with alot of bright sunny breaks, and expect more of this weather through the next couple weeks meaning lots of fresh new plant growth. All I can say is this will be interesting!!!Quote:
