I have read somewhere that if you leave your plant in total darkness the last two days before harvest , that it really increases resin production in white strains. Is there any truth behind this , or is this a load of crap?

Load of crap... Supposedly if you harvest after a long dark period all the starches in the leaves that distort the taste of the bud goes to the roots. So supposedly it doesn't take as long to cure. I don't know if that is true but it sounds kinda like what you're talking about.
Yeah it kinda sounds like mummble jummble to me. I would think that you would want to take advantage of all the light one could get. This is my first attempt at a white strain and I read somewhere that, along with what your saying, the plant also increase's resin as it know death is near.I don't know, never tried it.So it looks like harvesting after 2 days darkness is :toilet_claw:
Without light the plant starts to loose chlorophyll making the plant look more white. There is no increased resin production.
...I did 36 hours dark...before harvest...white widow/rhino.....did it help?...try it ...or don't....growers choice.....then decide....
...you can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink....
I would just let it dry out for the last two days... If anything leave the lights on for 2 days straight it'll help prevent mold while drying.

All were White Russian and after drying and laying out all 3 samples of the W.R.'s (1 "regular", 1 at 2 days in darkness and 1 in 5 days) neither one of us could tell the difference even under a 300x microscope. But it did no harm either so this is one experiment that won't hurt to try. Perhaps your outcome might be different but I doubt it. I've done this before with same results using a different strain.
Thanks for the reply's. When I first heard about this it just made no sense to me, so I figured someone here may of tried or heard this one. I appreciate all the responses,Thanks again. :hippy:
