Weed = Coolness?

Ok, before today I never really thought that weed really had any effect on popularity or anything like that really. Well anyways i guess today kind of changed my mind on that and here is why.


Alright so my fifth hour class is this elective called music in the humanities. Basically we just take notes and study music throughout the ages. Its really a blowoff class and an easy one too. Anyways its in this part of the school thats sort of like an empty space i guess. Its hard to explain. Basically its a an open room where the choir practices and sometimes the school has small dinners and banquets there occasionally. Also there is a sliding door at the far end of the room that opens up onto a nice deck with plants and a bench.

So today in class, this group was giving a presentation of music during the 1960s. Their presentation was over really fast and we had nothing to do. So we had a study hall for the last 25 minutes of class. Since it was such a nice day our music teacher decided to unlock the door to the deck if anyone wanted to go outside and enjoy the weather or just chill out there. So me and a few friends from class go out there on the deck and start playing hackey sack. After about 10 minutes we realize it would be easy as hell to smoke and get away with it because we could have one person hitting the bowl while the rest of us played hackey sack by the door and kept a lookout for the teacher. Long story short me and a few of the guys smoke up outside although i really didnt smoke that much. Just enough to get a little high. One of the guys i smoked with would be considered popular i guess. He goes to all the parties and has tons of friends and stuff. So anyways after lunch and stuff and throughout the rest of the day people keep comin up to me and givin me high fives and fist pounds and stuff and tellin me how cool that was.

So what do you guys think? Does weed make one cooler or more hip?

Who? The guy i smoked with? I mean it wasnt like a ton of people were talking to me and stuff just some guys i wouldnt usually talk to as much were like "man i heard you and bill smoked up in 5th period." me: yah then we high five or somethin similar.

It could maybe. I sorta think people who do it to be cool disrespect the dank. Haha. But if its just a perk, then hey what the hell?

IMO you guys bonded over the "breaking of the rules" not the weed per say.

It'll fade off, most likely, if he's one of those popular dick heads, but if it's the nice kind of people who are popular, it's all good. If he's a dick, he'll hit you up for more weed.

I notice that my younger sister in high school and all of the popular kids smoke weed, but 75% of them just do it as an alternative to alcohol; another high, if you will, or just to seem like they're cool, but they don't respect the herb. They can take it to annoying lengths...

"Maaan I got so HIIIIIIIIIIGH last night and then we hung out in the McDonald's parking lot till 2am, with our pimped out Dodge Neons with spoilers that we won't ever need 'cause our cars don't go fast enough to need the stabilization then Brian's mom called and bought us beer and the cops came and busted up our party and then I fucked some bitch, maaaaaaaaaaan. Can you get your older bro to buy us some cigs?"

We get a lot of those idiots in our town.

DON'T LISTEN to these people man! They got it all wrong man! Pot makes you cool bro! THC isn't real, getting high is nothing but a surge of coolness and popularity rushing into your body man!

It was probably just because it was tight that you were able to smoke in the classroom, I know that'd be cool to do at my school. And because you were smoking bud with a kid who knows alot of people, he told alot of people, so alot of people thought it was cool.
