Foot Candles of Light for Clones?

I have some four-five day old clones from a buddy, they are slowly making their way to being a bit more healthy... but they aren't completely settled into their new home just yet. I am curious what type of foot candles I should give these babies while they are still adjusting? Right now I have my 1000 watt lamp about four feet above them, and in the past my clones have rooted and adjusted quicker..so I moved the light down as they matured. These, are still adjusting, so they shouldn't be blasted with too much light, correct?
