GREEN HOUSE.. DO I NEED LIGHTS??

BASICLY IM THE UK AND IM GONA BE DOING MY FIRST OUTDOOR GROW THIS YEAR, BUT IM USING POLY TUNNELS. BASICLY WE HAVE A HOT SUMMER PREDICTED BUT THE UK IS NOT EXACTLY CALI SO WILL I STILL NEED SOME HPS SUPLEMENT TO GET GOOD BUDS.. THE OTHER THING IS IM GONA BE BLACKING OUT THE GREEN HOUSES WITH CURTAINS FOR CONTROLLED FLOWERING STARTING IN ABOUT JUNE BUT WILL THE SLIGHTLY LESS RED DAYLIGHT AT THIS TIME OF YEAR BE OK..?? ALSO WOULD PEOPLE ADVISE HYDRO OR SOIL FOR THIS TYPE OF GROW???

theres no point to growing in an outdoor greenhouse if ur blacking everything? that would kinda be indoor growing. ur headed towards a mess i think. mixing natures sun cycle with ur own artificial sunlight cycle i think could also just lead to a mess. i have a little idea though if im picturing ur situation right. ur just blacking out the walls right? so im assuming ur ceiling (which is clear because its a greenhouse) is going to be left alone for the sun to shine in. so here it goes: cover ur walls with whatever u want so it u cant see from the outside, but on the inside, line the walls with mylar so the sunlight that ur getting from above is reflected everywhere.

-this is just an idea, no idea if its better. to be honest if i were u id scratch the whole greenhosue idea alltogether since u cant utilize it fully and make a little closet garden in your home or grow in a nearby wooded area or even in your backyard. make sure u research for mold-resistant strains so u dont get bud-rot late in flowering if your growing outside.

if you cover the sides of the building with black/white poly, and then put a layer of mylar on the inside of that, you might do ok; i'd give them as much time as possible, try not to put the covering up higher than you have to (more sidelight the better)


but, if your greenhouse is in plain view, i think covering up the sides would be suspicious in its own right; you know your situation though; i would avoid artificial lighting if you can

you shouldnt need additional lighting. about the only time you would need additional lighting in a greenhouse would be to extend the light hours, in the case of cannabis that would be used to keep it in a veg state if you did not want the plants to flower. would probably only be needed in your case in the winter or very early spring when the days was less than 13 hours.
the reason he is blacking out the greenhouse is so he can go 12/12 in june its a daily process where the green house is covered to provide darkness so the plants will start to flower alot early than they normaly would, its not uncommon to do this in a green house.
