Sometimes it sucks being the reliable one.
So I've been wanting to start a grow for quite a while now. I worked really hard on converting a small spare bedroom, shelled out the money for the equipment which took forever because honestly I don't have the best paying of jobs, and finally after much deliberation ordered seeds for four strains of plant I wanted to try to grow. The seeds should arrive soon, but now I have to shelve the startup for who knows how long. My parents' home partially burned last night (this is why space heaters are a bad idea btw), and now they need a place to stay while they wait for the insurance money and then hire a contractor to rebuild the damaged portion of their house. Now my brother has a huge home with three spare bedrooms while I only have this tiny house with a spare room barely bigger than a walk in closet. He turned them down, so that means I get to host mom and dad until such time as their home is livable again. Now I love my parents, don't get me wrong. I love them and appreciate all they've done for me throughout my life. My frustration comes from having worked so hard to get everything bought and setup only to have it ruined by my brother being a selfish prick. So I spent most of last night dismantling my grow room, boxing up equipment and storing it in the attic crawl space. Getting mylar back onto the roll is annoying as hell by the way. The only thing I didn't undo was the blacked out windows. I have a plausible excuse for that because I've had a problem with migraines since I was about thirteen. I just hope I'll be able to set up the grow room once again within the year. Wish me luck. My parents are on their way and I need to go make coffee and order a pizza for dinner. I am way too annoyed to try and cook them something. :(

I would kill some one if that happened to me lol. I hope things work out fast so you can finally do what you have been planning and waiting on :).

Thanks Slow and Orange for the kind words. Mom and dad arrived, ate, and have left to visit the local Walmart in order to buy some items they need. Clothing, toiletries, whatever. Also I don't have a second bed so they are also going to see if they can find an inexpensive futon, if not they'll buy an air mattress I suppose. They never mentioned the windows being blacked out. Since they were gone I went ahead and made a second trip through the house looking for stray roaches and the like. I found about 2 grams of some decent bud a friend gave me that I forgot I had in the drawer of my coffee table, so I rolled a nice fatty and am having a toke and unwinding. After dad conks out (he always goes to bed early) I'll ask mom if she'd like to smoke one. She'll share a joint with me every now and then and I figure after last night she could do with a decent buzz. Now that I think of it, so could dad but he is somewhat anti MJ. He doesn't think it's bad really, but says it is illegal and he won't break the law for anything. I think I'll go run to the convenience store and get him some beer.

Lol people that are against something because it's illegal actually makes me laugh. Everyone probably breaks the law everyday. Some law breaking might not be as severe as others, but it still happens I bet. I don't wear my seat-belt (lol). They are just too uncomfortable to me.

damn dude sorry to hear about your grow getting put off...but like slowlickitysplit said..your grow is gonna be amazing..Plus it's always nice when kids can do something like this for their parents...and as for your bro... you should get him a space heater for his birthday lol

Mom and dad are sacked out on the new futon. She declined the herbage, her throat is a little sore from the smoke she inhaled from the fire. She did thank me for being such a safety freak and insisting they install smoke alarms a few years back though. Space heaters have always made me nervous, however Nissan, it is tempting to send a dozen to my brother. Thanks, that gave me a much needed laugh.

...you didn't say how you blacked out your windows?...paint?....
..I used a roll of roofing felt...and tacked it up...cuts very easy with scissors...totally light-proof....quick up....quick down...maybe next time...:)...

Green Lady, it's good in the end. You could always have a chat with your parents about your hobby- I told my dad 2 weeks ago that I'm a grower- he's super straight laced but took it well- this could be an opportunity to talk to your parents, adult to adult. I found it really refreshing to have that chance and let my dad know who I REALLY am!
I'm glad your parents are safe.
You can always get going on the seeds on a really small scale so as not to lose time.
Now go call your brother and tell him what a selfish twat we all think he is. BOOOOOO!
just kidding, but you might send him a copy of the little red hen story, just to give him the heads up of why no one is gonna help his ass out of a bind!

I used three layers of regular felt to block the windows Dutch. I had a hell of a time getting it up with no light leaks so I didn't want to have to take it all down again. No worries Stinky, my whole family thinks he's a complete twat too. That kicker on this whole deal is that we all helped him move into that damn house not three weeks ago. Rat bastard!
