Geico Cavemen Are Getting Their Own TV Show!

I was reading my magazine and I saw this, I think we all have seen the Geico cavemen commercials. I have and there hilarious...but a tv show?

"The grizzly cavemen who star in the Geico insurance ads appear to have struck a primal chord in viewers. They're so wildly popular, they're getting their own show! ABC announced on March 2 that it has ordered a pilot inspired by the ads. The sitcom, according to Variety, 'will revolve around three prehistoric men who must battle prejudice as they attempt to live as normal thirtysomethings in modern Atlanta."

I cannot stand those cave men characters! I hate the way they look, and I hate their snarly attitudes. Nothing about them makes me want to buy GEICO insurance. The fact is I have GEICO insurance now, and strange as this sounds, I dislike those characters so much I'm tempted to shop for another insurer. I don't like the cave men and I don't like their stupid gecko, either.

Obviously I'm in the minority.

They just gross me out! Something about them really turns my stomach. I know it's strange. I don't normally even think about stuff I see on ads, which I always mute. I think I have that distaste because I wrote advertising and marketing copy (in addition to speeches) for many years at the job I left last fall to return to school. I have strong feelings about advertising making a pleasant association with viewers/readers/buyers. Obviously some people make a pleasant association with those cave guys or they wouldn't keep using them and making new ads. I'm just not one of them. I think I see them as insulting and degrading to both humans and to the great apes, both of which are species I love in their pure forms.

Birdgirl, agreed. Haha. I just hate them. Something about them makes me want to break my tv.

I like the cavmen but,,,I admit they are playing it up to much and I am getting less and less enthused...

i think the commercials are funny but i dont know if a show would be funny. i wonder if geico will advertise during the show?

The first commercial was slightly humorous... but after they came out with a full series.. :wtf:
