i have a few pipes and a bong and my friends keep telling different ways to load the bowls. Should i bust my weed up a lot, should it be kind of clumpy, should a just stick in a part of my bud, should it be different for a pipe bowl than a bong bowl?

I just take a bud and crumble it up in the bowl just before it reaches the top and push down on it a bit and just smoke it. I don't look for "proper" ways to smoke a bowl I just do it and get high lol.
I've smoked out of pipes and bongs with big chunks or when it's grounded and I find it better when it's grounded up real nice because it'll burn easier.
My suggestion, experiment and find the way that's best for ya.
i've heard that it's best to break it up into bb-sized pieces, and load those. sometimes i break it up, other times i just toss in a bud. i find it burns alot better when broken up, though. you don't have to keep re-lighting it.
Its is definitely best to do what slpntrx5 mentions - break your bud up into small chunks and load those. A cheap herb grinder will take a bud and do this quickest. One of the things you always want to avoid is losing the glands. Grinders may massacre a bud but at least the glands and resin stay in the grinder, only to rub off on the next bud you put in, so I like them for that reason.
If you have really high quality stuff, using a pair of scissors to cut very small pieces off is also recommended by some people. This way you're not getting the glands/resin all over your hands. In theory, only a very small cross-section of the bud will be lost on the scissors doing it this way.
Putting a whole chunk of bud in preserves the most glands/resin, but it also doesn't burn very well, and the smoke winds up accumulating on the bowl and on the underside of the bud.
All things consider, scissors or a grinder to make very small bits works best. Try not to touch the bud or touch it as little as possible.
if the bud isn't too sticky, i just squeeze the bud between my index finger and my thumb and it breaks up just perfect. basically just put pressure on it and rollit it around you thumb and finger a little bit and it gets the job done perfectly. then you got kif all over your fingers that you can use to top the bowl off with.
I was just wondering why you call it bowls in your country ,as we call it cones ,its all cool just a bit of a Americanisms that hasn't been brought out here yet and believe me there is plenty to influence the majority of our culture.Quote:

I notice bong...vessels, tend to have two shapes - one "bowl" shaped like a little cereal bowl, and one which is conical.
Hence, calling it a bowl or a cone, probably both make sense.

as fine as i can get it with one chunck that's just slightly bigger then the hole as i only smoke glass peices and screens annoy me in glass pieces
