ok me and my gf are fighting over this if you have an itch do you itch it or do you scratch it? I think you scratch it but she says you itch it. Which one do you think it is?

You most certainly scratch it. Itch is an intransitive verb and can not take an object. It makes no more sense to say "I itch my leg" than it does to say "I sneeze my nose" or "I ache my stomach".

It's scratch.

Itch is the problem.

Scratch is the solution.

Unless it's a bite in which case scratching will make it worse.:)

Think about it, if you have an "itch", that's the result of some part of you feeling itchy, which is the true meaning of the verb "to itch". But if you SCRATCH the itch with a rusty nail and it tears your flesh open, you then have a "scratch", not an "itch".

'Itching' something is ghetto slang. Just another way of turning 'the man's' word against him.

Kinda like the ever popular "What time it is?" :D

You're an idiot to say you itch it. Try a dictionary.

seems to me that if you have an itch, you scratch it... however, if you have a scratch, how can you "itch" it?
things that make you go hmmmmm? wow, that sure is a head scratcher.....

The minority who voted for itch, should look up it's definition.
