question about effects of cannabis indica vs. sativa

I had not toked for a pretty long time, and I recently finally found a hook up and scored some very nice looking and smelling buds. Relatively fluffy, some crystals all over them, and smelling a little sweet, but mostly skunky. I smoked up, just about 2-3 good thick hits through a pipe and 5-6 smaller hits.

I was rocked off my ass. Like, not even in a pleasant sort of way. I mean, it was interesting, but I felt like I'd forgotten how to breath... like I couldn't catch my breath. It was sort of scary. I couldn't even drink from a glass of water because it felt like I was about to drop the glass... no matter how tightly I held it. My senses were all fucked up. And my thoughts were racing like a motherfucker. I couldn't think about one thing for very long before my thoughts would just jump to the next, like I was A.D.D. or something. I tried just chilling and enjoying it, but it was not fun at all to just sit b/c my thoughts were racing. I felt better getting up and trying to do shit... but even that was hard as hell b/c I was so fucked up.

Now, I understand some of that is to be expected. But I'm looking for more of a laid back experience. I tried smoking less another time. However, it was just like the first experience but less strong. It wasn't as "chill" an experience as I would like it to be.

Now for the question. I've heard that "indica" cannabis is more of a chill, laid back high and "sativa" is more of a "cerebral", "energetic" type high. Do you think I've just gotten my hands on some really strong sativa? What are your experiences with "indica" versus "sativa"? I wish I could just order up some indica from my buddy, but I think he just gets whatever he can at the time. I may try growing my own.

The way I see it is, next time you smoke, don't necessarily smoke less, just put some length between your hits, don't do it one after another because that's some potent bud for sure. Take a hit or two, wait like 10-15 seconds and see how you're feeling. Then decide take another toke if you'd like :P Otherwise I'm not really sure about the sativa vs indica, sorry. But I do recommend growing your own, it's an amazing investment and his very well worth it in the end :P

sounds more like indica actually, the reason i love sativa is i can control my high considerably more and function almost perfectly whilst having a mindblowing experience.

too much strong skunk on fresh lungs can get you blasted. sounds like a groovy indica/sativa hybrid.

That's funny you say that. I did have a lot of "ideas" running through my head. I started writing all my thoughts down and thinking deeply about a lot of things I've been dealing with lately. I bet its a sativa, a really fucking potent one. I'll just need to take it easy on this shit I guess. The guy I bought it from said if I don't smoke often it would probably rock my world. If I smoked a bunch of it I could see it causing a panic attack or something like that.

I wish cannabis were legal so I could buy some indica and see if I like its effects more. I guess I need to order some seeds and try growing my own. Anyone know of a good place to order from?

Well jsn9333, how long did you go without smoking before you bought that dank? It sounds to me like you went quite a while, long enough for your tolerance to drop steadly. So you have a low tolerance and you bought some dank shit so you should expect your world to be "rocked"

It had been a year or so... after I moved to NC I no longer had a hookup. I guess maybe I'm used to more of an "indica" type of high. I'm not sure exactly what it was, but what I smoked before i moved would definitely stone me, but it was different... more enjoyable if you ask me. Whatever this shit is put me in almost a panicked state, with my mind racing so much. Its just something I never experienced before.

i love both indicas and sativas, i dont much like mixed ones because i find that the sativa just completly overpowers the indica. When im smoking indica i find that i just feel like im sinking into the ground and i like to relax, i can still think straight and function and i often like to go out to eat at restaraunts and do things, when i smoke sativas i find that i cant keep track of time, my head is all fucked up, i cant keep a clear train of thought and i would never even dream of attempting to drive or go out in public... seems to me like youve got a strong sativa or even a mix

Thanks xmk. Can I ask what strains you you enjoy when you want an indica, if you know? I'm thinking of ordering some Afghan to try growing a good indica. But I've heard Northern Lights are good too. Any suggestions?

white widow is a bangin indica.

a strong indica will still make you freak out if you smoke too much.

couldnt really say what strain, im in the midwest and although we get some high quality stuff its VERY rare to see any "name brand" stuff, its hard enough for me to find people who actually know the difference between the two types
