hey my friend had a minor thing done today where she had to go under anesthesia. it says shes supposed to rest and not smoke (im assuming ciggs) for 24 hours. I dont think if will matter if she has a few hits right? anyone know if this is bad or what can happen? i dont see it as being a big deal?

Prob. depends on what a lil thing = ?
I myself smoke afterwards for pain relief -n- to alieviate the naseua symptoms . But it all depends on whats been done to this person . Comon sense rule I guess .

If it was her stomach, I'm sure a few hits won't hurt her, but keep it in moderation for her and don't give her mind blowing hits. Something easy on the lungs and something that won't make her cough a shitload.

Oh yeah, and make sure she doesn't swallow any smoke. It goes in the lungs, but some folks swallow after taking a hit. :)

Last time they snaked Crispi from the top they told me no smoking at all due to the throat irritation of the scope itself .

It's not ideal to smoke anything after anesthesia. People do it, but it'd be better if they didn't. For one thing, you're trying to let the anesthesia and various sedatives they give you work their way out of your system, not add more new substances. Then it's important to keep the lungs clear and smoke free after anesthesia. Weed smoke is a strong irritant. Patients are at heightened risk of developing pneumonia after they've had anesthesia, so clear, clean lungs help ward that off. Then, just like Crispi said, people's throats are already irritated from the breathing tube, and that lasts a couple of days. It's just best to take a brief smoking break from both cigs and weed.

I have to second Birdgirl on this one... I would wait at least 12-24 hours before smoking.

I dont know about anathesia, but after I gave blood I was told not to smoke for at least an hour. I smoked anyway and I felt great, like I was completly mellow. It probably wasn't good for me but it didnt cause any unwanted effects. I would say not smoking is only a safety measure and its up to the individual if they want to take chances.
